Improved Page Management
Our new drag-and-drop site map is significantly larger and much easier to use.
- Quickly get an overview of all the pages in your site that you can expand and collapse as needed.
- Page Names are accompanied with information about the page including owner, date last updated, visibility status and which template or shell the page uses.
- Quickly add sub pages by clicking the link below the parent page.
- Edit the page by clicking it's name, rather than selecting the page and then clicking Edit.
- If your site uses multiple shells or templates, you can choose which template a page should use upon creation or by modifying the page's properties.
Faster System Response
 |
SiteWrench 4.0 is a tremendous leap forward in website management technology. All previous versions of SiteWrench were built on Microsoft's .NET 1.1 framework and used frames for navigation, an older and slower method.
SiteWrench 4.0 uses Microsoft's greatly enhanced .NET 3.5 framework and frames are nowhere to be found. SiteWrench 4.0 takes full advantage of newer programming techniques like AJAX and all of the benefits included in the .NET 3.5 framework to make system navigation as quick as possible. |
In SiteWrench 4.0 you can add 10 pages to your website in under 1 minute!
(Obviously that depends on your connection speed.)
Add Pages Quickly
Along with faster system response, SiteWrench 4.0 allows you to create pages extremely quickly. Upon creation, you can also easily set several options for your page.
SiteWrench 4.0 also introduces Page Types.
- Content Page - A page that will contain information that you add to the page is a Content Page. All pages in previous systems would be considered content pages.
- Link Page - Link Pages allow you to represent any page in your website in any location in your navigation without having to recreate the content. For instance, if you wanted the information about your upcoming Men's Fishing Trip to be in the Retreats and Trips section of your website but also in the Men's section of your website you would simply create the page in one place and then create a Link Page wherever else you want to display the information.
- Grouping Page - Pages that do not contain information, but rather are used purely for organizational purposes are Grouping Pages. For instance, you may have a page named Trips and Retreats that doesn't need to contain any information, but rather should just group pages that contain specific information. You would create a grouping page and choose how you would like for it to behave. You no longer have to manually add redirects or a list of links to those pages.
Page Parts
Page Parts are the largest (and coolest) change to the SiteWrench system. They allow unbelievable flexibility in managing information. Page Parts are the individual building blocks of various types of content for every page in your website.
In previous versions of SiteWrench features like the calendar or store came into your website through shell functions, or basically as a special part of your site that wasn't a page. Page Parts changes that and allows you to have a calendar or other feature on any page of your site that you choose. You can have several parts on a page, they can be different parts or the same part or any combination that you choose.
You will have to shift your thinking a little to get used to Page Parts, but the change will give you the ability to do tons of things with your website. Your rep can help you develop ideas learn how to flex the system to meet your needs, just give us a call!
File Management
In previous systems, SiteWrench automatically sorted files into 5 categories based on file type. You were also restricted to a specified few file types that you could upload to the system. SiteWrench 4.0 gives you more control over your files and how you store them.
- Upload an extremely wide variety of files, in fact, if it's not on the restricted list, then you can upload it!
- Create your own folders for media. When you upload a file you can choose to put it in an existing folder, create a new folder or upload it to the root and move it later. Folders can also have any number of sub folders to give you maximum organization capabilities.
- More storage space and storage space expansion is drastically cheaper. In the previous SiteWrench systems, we used a traditional system of file storage. SiteWrench 4.0 offers a greatly increased storage capacity, improved up and down load times, higher server traffic capacity as well as a higher level of reliability. How we did this is a bit technical, but if you'd like to know more, give us a call and we'll gladly explain it.
Members and Member Groups
Most previous SiteWrench systems have offered website membership, but it was more of an afterthought rather than an integral part of your website. SiteWrench 4.0 shifts the paradigm and makes membership an integral part of your website.
As a part of this addition, we've included two ways to create groups of members. You can create them arbitrarily by adding specific people to a specific group or, by creating a Smart Group, you can add members to a group based on demographic information that you acquire when someone joins your website. By tying Membership to pages, features, mass mail, permissions and more you can do things like create custom content for specific people based on all types of criteria.
Previous SiteWrench systems also offered only pre-defined site membership registration forms. SiteWrench 4.0 allows you to customize your membership forms to collect the information that you desire...and you can make any field required or optional!
Users and Permissions
SiteWrench has always offered the ability to distribute the workload of website maintenance through multiple user accounts. Users could be controlled by setting their account type (Standard or Administrator) and then by assigning item ownership to only one user.
SiteWrench 4.0 allows you to create multiple users, assign them specific Add, Modify and Delete permissions for each of the management areas. Each page in the system has a specific owner. An owner of a page or an administrator can grant other users permission to manage their specific pages. Now you can have multiple people with, limited rights, who can edit specific pages within your website.
More flexibility and more control!
